MARCEL BUISAN

A film and history graduate. One of his first productions, La Basarda (The fear) (2009) was selected at the Valencia International Film Festival in the category “Cinema Jove” (“Young cinema”). He wrote and directed Un balcó d’Abril (An april balcony) (2011), a short film which explores, through the eyes of a child, the city of Barcelona during the time of the Republic, the Civil War and the Francoist dictatorship. In 2017 he returned to directing with La herencia de Marti (The heritage of Martí), a short film written by Marc Pascual about a tumultuous relationship between two women which was selected in a dozen film festivals around the world and received awards in three of them. He written and directed La tardor de la història (The autumn of history) (2020), a short film set in post-civil- war Catalunya, during one of its most relevant periods. The short film has been selected in a dozen international film festivals, most notably in the LA Shorts International Short Film Festival —a qualifying platform for the Academy Awards and the BAFTAs—, in the Barcelona Dramatic International Film Festival —in which it received two awards— and in the Cannes Short Film Corner. His last short film, “Badia”, will be premiered in 2025.
